The Stepwise well emission application will be used throughout the drilling pilot campaign. In the well planning phase, the well emission application will establish the well's baseline using synchronized historical data. During the drilling well construction campaign, the emission application will monitor real-time emissions against the baseline and measure performance in each well section. Post-operation, an automatic emission report will be generated from all direct and indirect drilling activities, ie. Scope 1, 2 & 3.

Vår Energi is the first operator to pioneer the adoption of a fully comprehensive digitalized integrated well planning, monitoring and reporting emissions well solution. The Company is committed to the Paris Agreement and UN SDG #13 Climate Action, aiming to achieve climate neutrality in Scope 1 and 2 activities by 2030. This encompasses net zero greenhouse gas emissions from all producing 39 oil and gas fields where Vår Energi operates or is a partner.

Matthew Johan, Executive Director from Stepwise, commented on the project, stating, "We are proud to partner with Vår Energi, who share our dedication to advancing climate action. Our SaaS emission monitoring solution will provide them with valuable insights and data transparency, empowering them to drive informed operational decisions for a more sustainable future."
Rene Woertman, Well Excellence Manager at Vår Energi, added, "This pilot project with Stepwise is a significant step forward in our efforts to minimize our environmental impact. Utilising their emission application will allow us to continuously monitor and optimise our operations, ensuring we are on track to achieve our ambitious climate goals."
