Grounded in operational basis, not guesswork: idle equipment, compressed air, HVAC, cranes, lighting, and galley/accommodation systems each carry their own stated savings range and rationale, not a single blanket number.

Outcomes are measured the same way as the rest of the platform: against a stated baseline, reported as a range with its basis attached, and separated from modelled upside that hasn't been delivered yet.

Cross-functional "Pods" (e.g. Drilling, Marine, Tech) each assign a SmartSaver rep to promote the focus, remind the crew, and record actions taken.

Weekly wrap-up
Actions and savings are reviewed in the next session; successful practices and crew suggestions are logged to shape the following week's focus.

The best-performing pod is recognised on a crewroom scoreboard, with the cycle repeating on a new focus area the following week.
Anasuria, Helix and Exceed: proving that crew engagement drives measurable savings
Over a 13-day SmartSaver campaign on the Anasuria field (operated by Anasuria Operating Company, with Helix Energy Solutions and Exceed Energy), daily fuel intensity fell 22.3% against the prior-year baseline — from 18.78 m³ to 14.59 m³ per day. That translates to $1.7M in annualised fuel cost savings, benchmarked at $1,000/m³ for marine gas oil, and 4,690 tCO2e avoided annually at the measured reduction rate.
The campaign logged 36 SmartSaver ideas across six crew departments, and identified a further 8–10% reduction potential through future energy reduction initiatives — modelled upside, not yet delivered, and reported separately from the measured result above.

All totals and averages are calculated over the active operational phase only, following the Stepwise continuous improvement methodology. ** Total savings potential includes both implemented and recommended energy reduction initiatives annualised.*** The operator was not exposed to a CO2 tax, as the campaign was conducted on the UK Continental Shelf under the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS). A $100 per CO2te benchmark is applied for reference, reflecting typical market values in major trading systems. Cost benchmarks: Fuel cost saved calculated using $1,000 per m³ for marine fuel.
Why the number holds up
The 8–10% future energy-reduction-initiative figure is kept separate and explicitly flagged as modelled potential, not counted into the delivered result: exactly the standard the rest of the site's numbers are held to.
