Tell us about Fredric

I’m originally from the south of Sweden, where I still live in a house that always has a project or two underway. My career spans nearly 30 years in IT, much of it as a consultant on projects large and small. I’ve worked across the full stack from frontend, backend, and databases, exploring a wide range of technologies and industries. In recent years, my focus has been the Norwegian oil industry, though I’ve worked in others as well.

I’m the proud father of two grown children, aged 20 and 25, who recently moved into their own places, a milestone for them and for me. With a quieter house, I have more time for my passions. I’ve always been drawn to mechanical engineering and woodworking, and I’m curious to learn new skills. Most recently, I tried blacksmithing, which was both challenging and satisfying.

When I’m not building, tinkering, or learning something new, I’m usually outdoors. I have a couple of motorcycles and a love for off-road adventure riding. My latest trip was a 6,000 km solo ride to Bosnia and back, almost entirely on dirt and gravel, with my tent as my only accommodation.

Why did you join Stepwise?

I’m happy to be part of the Stepwise team, knowing my work can help create a safer and better environment. The tech stack is not only capable and forward-looking, it’s built with purpose and has real potential to deliver impact.

When I joined, I didn’t know much about Stepwise, but it quickly became clear this is a company with both vision and the ability to deliver. The mission to help the energy sector cut emissions is ambitious and practical, and is backed by results, not just promises. As someone who enjoys tackling complex challenges through technology, I’m inspired by how Stepwise combines data, expertise, and innovation into a tool that operators can use to improve their emissions

Being part of a committed team is motivating. Stepwise isn’t just building software, it’s reshaping how the industry approaches sustainability and I’m proud to be part of that journey.

What’s your focus in Stepwise?

I’ll be working as a Frontend Developer, making sure everything we create is delivered in a way that’s clear, engaging, and genuinely useful. My goal is to make it easy for people to understand and act on their data, whether that’s through emissions dashboards, insights, or reports.

For me, it’s about more than just looks, it’s about making sure our tools feel intuitive and natural to use. I enjoy taking something complex and turning it into a clean, simple experience that gives people confidence in the decisions they make.

If the backend is the engine, I’m here to make sure the driver’s seat feels just right.
