Focus on Emissions
The Bore- og Riggkonferansen is an annual meeting and networking arena for over 300 delegates from the oil and gas industry. It is an event primarily for oil companies, rig owners and suppliers to share operational experiences, present technical and operational improvements related to drilling and wells, and discuss opportunities for improvement and innovation.
The focus of this years conference was on planning, execution, and continuous improvement of offshore drilling operations through “data-driven” decision-making, leveraging the latest technologies, and exploring the opportunities of digitalization and automation. As is the case across the energy sector, emission reductions was high on the agenda. The conference focused on the contributions that the drilling industry is making to low carbon energy schemes, and some of the routes that the sector is taking to meet the industry's ambitious GHG emission target of 50% reduction by 2030. Investing in carbon capture and storage technologies and improving energy efficiencies were some of the routes discussed.
Stepwise used the opportunity to showcase our Plan, Do, Check, Act approach to well emission planning, monitoring, reporting and continuous improvements leveraging best practice energy reduction initiatives (ERIs). Our emissions module has the potential to reduce daily CO2 emissions by as much as 100 metric tons of CO2e for a single semi-submersible drilling unit.
